June 2006 Archives
Sorry this is a bit late, but I got sidetracked.
So I don't watch much soccer since it isn't on TV all that much, but did you see the USA get robbed when they played Italy? I was impressed by the USA squad, they came out of the gate and dominated the match and they made Italy look like the underdog.
Enter in the refree. This poor smuck make it impossible to play an aggressive game. He blew so many calls that the TV announcers where saying that he should withdraw from the match. Incredible.. Fortunately the USA team came out of it with a point, but they will have to play the next match minus two guys.
Just let them play within reason.
I just finished watching the movie Crash. I just have to say that this was an incredible movie. It shows you what a messed up world we live in and how people still play the race card. If you have not seen this, by all means do so.
I had to share this, my mom sent this over and I just couldn't stop laughing.
Man... One word sums up today's match with the Czech Republic... Flat.. Our guys have got to step it up or they are in for an early exit.
GO USA!
This weekend was very good for the A's. First time since '94 the A's went into the Bronx and swept the Yankees. Please note that this is huge since Rich Harden is on the DL, Bobby Crosby missed the series with a hand injury and Frank Thomas has a bum leg. Granted the A's are not in 1st in their division, but we're only 2 games out.
Billy Beane explains that the first 1/3 of the season is looking over what you got and what missing pieces there are. The next 1/3 is going after those parts you need to fill in the gaps and the last 1/3 is putting it all together.
GO A's!
For the last 2 months I have been the proud owner of the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 Noise-Cancelling Headphones. Paired up with my Ipod and Yahoo Unlimited, these are incredible. I went from the default Ipod buds, to a pair of Etymotic 6i Isolators to the Bose and I think I have found bliss. Sure there are some studio headphones out there for some $$$, but I think I have found my happy spot.
Then came a bomb shell. My buddy sent me this. Bose Quiet Comfort 3 have been announced. DAMN! DOUBLE DAMN! The only thing that I wish mine had was the rechargable battery.
When it comes to watching TV, there are two devices that are a must in my book. Simply because they have changed the way I watch TV. The first and definitely the best device, is the DirecTV Tivo. Please note that this is an actual Tivo and not DirecTV's DVR. I have two DirecTV Tivos and one DirecTV DVR. Please do not call them the same as they are so far apart.
The second device that is a must is the Slingbox. I was fortunate to have been chosen to be one of the original Beta testers for the Slingbox. I got the first "orange" unit back in early 2005 and have loved it every since. For those that are not familiar with the Slingbox, it allows you to watch and control your TV anywhere in the world that has a broadband internet connection. Mine is connected to one of my DirecTV units so I can either watch live TV or something that I have Tivoed. As my buddy Matt has mentioned, ESPN has released the World Cup 2006 TV schedule. Guess what I will be doing during the day? Jealous?
